Holi Festival, El Gouna, 2023

Happy Holi to all my watchers! This festival of colors is one of the most popular festivals in India and is celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor.

Holi marks the end of winter and the beginning of spring. The festival is celebrated on the full moon day in the month of Phalguna, which falls in late February or early March. However, in El Gouna, we celebrate on the nearest weekend to make sure everybody can make it.

Holi is a festival that is celebrated by people of all ages and backgrounds. The festival is famous for the throwing of colored powders, known as “gulal,” and water at each other. People sing and dance to the beats of dholak and other musical instruments and what whatever the DJ is playing. Holi is also a time for reuniting with friends and family, sharing sweets and exchanging greetings.

The festival has its roots in Hindu mythology, where it is believed that the demon king Hiranyakashipu tried to dispose of his son Prahlad for being a devotee of Lord Vishnu. But Prahlad was saved by Lord Vishnu’s grace, and Hiranyakashipu was eliminated.

This story signifies the victory of good over evil. Holi is a festival that is celebrated in many different ways across India. In some regions, Holi is celebrated for 16 days, while in other regions, it is a one-day festival. In some parts of the country, the focus is on throwing colors, while in others, people play with water. In El Gouna – it’s colors for one day.

Apart from the traditional ways of celebrating Holi, there are many new trends that have emerged in recent times. The use of eco-friendly colors has gained popularity in recent years, as it is a more sustainable and healthier option than chemical-based colors.

Many people also prefer celebrating Holi in a more sober and peaceful way by avoiding alcohol and other intoxicants. In conclusion,
